Harathi Patalu In Telugu Lyrics Pdf Download

One of the most influential songs in Indian history, Harathi Patalu is a rousing patriotic song that celebrates the freedom of India from British rule. This song has been sung all over India to celebrate Independence Day for nearly a century now. In present times, Harathi Patalu has acquired a new significance because it often has been misquoted to mean "Harati Paatalu" which means "Rise up Hindus"! A recent controversy made it mandatory for people to sing this song at events and celebrations in Telugu language. The original song was written by the Indian writer, Sri Gurajada Appa Rao. It was set to music by Syama Sastri. A famous version of the song is sung by legendary singer, K J Yesudas in 1987 in the Telugu movie, "Mamata". Its lyrics were translated into Telugu (హారతీ పతలు). Yesudas later sang it in Hindi in 2002 in the film "Gulabi Aaina". The song is being mistakenly quoted as "Harati Padalu" or "Harati Patalu" nowadays, which are incorrect translations. The correct translation should be "Rise up, all the people". Originally, this song has no connection (nor any mention) of Hinduism; however, in recent years it has become mandatory to sing the song at functions and celebrations because it mentions "Hathharam Hidum Haram", which is not the correct translation of the words used in this historical song. The song has been sung in diverse languages, such as: Set to the music of Syama Sastri, this song praises our forefathers and it is a part of Annual Independence Day celebrations in Tollywood. The movie "Annamayya" (1935) was dedicated to this song. Swami Venkateswara Rao has sung the song with great emotion and clarity. This rendition with all its simplicity and grandeur was popular during the 1940s and 1950s. Anupama Shivdasani's renditions of Harathi Patalu is very popular too. The song was translated into Telugu and is well known in Andhra Pradesh to this day. It used to be sung after the national anthem and our national song "Jana Gana Mana" in school assemblies till about 20 years back. It continues to be sung even now at Independence Day functions and celebrations in Andhra Pradesh. Although it is an old song, it continues to be very popular with its newly found staying power among the people. The new generation has started singing it at many places especially during weddings and other ceremonies.
